Jeff Wall's work deals with the historical links between photography and painting. His realistic scenes with actors, his panoramic landscapes, in which the geography of the places is determined by their cultural and economic context, and his large transparencies mounted on light-boxes, are a reinterpretation of the Baudelairean theme of the "painter of modern life".
