Voyage of the Continents - Europe: Tropical Beginnins
Season 1 - Episode 4
Synopsis
Each impact caused cataclysms on a tremendous scale, creating a world of chaotic forms and bright colours. Over time, mountain chains that were even higher than the Himalayas sprung up in Scandinavia and Scotland, where today the great central plains lie. After millions of years of erosion, Europe has become a sea floor. It has been invaded by unusual life forms, and some of our species have modified the very shape of the continent. These metamorphoses in time and space are part of the ceaseless voyage of the continents.
The Serie : Via the epic of continental drift, we travel all over the world, to meet scientists who are carrying out state-of-the-art research on the most emblematic landscapes of each geological event.
With these scientists, and thanks to their work, we discover the sites in a new light – landscapes that we often see but rarely look at closely. The journey also establishes the key reference points of life alongside the geologic time scale - the appearance of life, of plants, of terrestrial life, dinosaurs and Man punctuate the geologic time scale.
