The war of narratives intensified, as Palestinians sought to preserve their history in the face of Israel. Despite the Oslo promises, Israeli colonization intensified. In 2000, the second Intifada broke out, with many suicide bombings happening. After Arafat's death in 2004, Hamas gained momentum, winning the 2006 election and dividing the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Gaza. In 2020,Trump’s partition plan was rejected by the Palestinians. Palestinian hopes diminished, but the October 7 attack revived the Palestinian issue and put it back on the spotlight. In 2024, several countries recognized a State of Palestine.
