The North Pole in the Canadian Arctic and the South Pole in the Southern Ocean, off the coast of Adélie Land, are located at opposite ends of the globe, yet they are not mirror images of one another, even though they share a ‘polar’ climate.

Their glacial landscapes conceal many strategic resources that make these extreme regions the destination for numerous expeditions.
