What is Palestine the Name of? Palestine: one Land, two People
Episode 1/3
Description
The story begins at the end of the 19th century in Palestine, under the Ottoman Empire, a region disputed by the great colonial powers and the Christian churches.
Christian and Jewish Zionism, supported by Great Britain, sought to establish a Jewish national home. In 1923, Britain was granted a Mandate for Palestine, creating tension between Zionists and Arabs. The 1929 massacres marked a turning point. The influx of Jewish refugees from Europe and the arrival of the Nazis intensified the conflict. In 1947, the UN suggested a partition plan that was rejected by the Arabs. In 1948, Israel was created, triggering the Nakba, the mass displacement of Palestinians.
