The Vietnam War : A "Two Blocks War"

1955-1975 : 20 years of conflict in a war that was never officially declared, pitting North Vietnam, allied with China and the Eastern bloc, against South Vietnam, allied with the USA and a few allies (Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Philippines). The outcome was the reunification of Vietnam, which had been won over to communism, and the first military defeat in the history of the United States, which emerged bloodless from the bogged-down conflict.
