Dates that Made History - -399 Bc – The Trial Of Socrates

Synopsis

Why was Socrates condemned by the city of Athens? Was the figure of the master thinker, who could subvert the youth, really a danger to a Greek democracy that was more idealized than it was understood?
In turn convened to justify the autonomy of intellectuals and to put the Athenian political ideal into perspective, the trial of this "patron of Western philosophy " has become a defining moment that is called upon to justify tolerance and freedom of thought as much as ideological dictatorship.
