Dates that Made History - 1776, The American Independence
Synopsis
The American revolution is sometimes watered down to the point where it can become an almost silent revolution.
Here, we wish to return to the context of increased imperialism in Great Britain since it started "ruling the waves " in place of France after 1762. We also examine the ideological foundations of a "Bill of Rights " that inspired other revolutions and was the basis of a long war of independence – almost 10 years. It did not change the face of the world at first, but it definitely shook its symbolic and economic balances to the core.
